Apple’s New Feature – Health Records Now Available in The UK And Canada

The Health Records function within the Health app is now available for users in the UK and Canada to safely view and save their medical records right on their iPhone, with their privacy secured at all times. Oxford University Hospitals and Women’s College Healthcare facility are among the first health care institutions in the UK and Canada to make this feature readily available to their patients.

In the United States, over 500 organizations currently support Health Records on iPhone, listing more than 11,000 care locations. Formerly, patients’ medical records were kept in multiple locations, requiring clients to log in to each health care provider’s site to piece together their health information manually. Health Records develops a direct connection between medical institutions and a patient’s iPhone, enabling users to see the main view of their allergies, conditions, immunizations, lab outcomes, medications, treatments, and vitals across numerous institutions, and to be notified when their information is updated.

“We designed Health Records on iPhone to empower individuals to quickly view their health records at any time, and we are enjoyed put this function in the hands of customers in the UK and Canada,” stated Kevin Lynch, Apple’s vice president of Innovation. “Our company believes individuals need to have access to their health info in the most personal and safe and secure method, and we have worked for hand in hand with healthcare organizations and organizations to put personal privacy at the center of the client experience.”

Apple believes privacy is a basic human right, and Health Records was designed to safeguard clients’ privacy at all times by making use of a direct, encrypted connection between the user’s iPhone and the health care organization. In addition, all Health Records information is secured on the gadget and safeguarded with the user’s iPhone passcode, Touch ID, or Face ID. Apple worked carefully with Cerner, Epic, Allscripts, and InterSystems to allow the FHIR (Quick Health Care Interoperability Resources) standards-based combination with the Health app for their UK and Canadian customers.

“At NHSX, we are committed to offering clients access to their own records so they can organize their healthcare,” said Matthew Gould, CEO of NHSX. “The launch of Health Records on the iPhone in the UK is a positive step and joins a number of efforts throughout the NHS to put clients in the driving seat.”
“Improving our services to clients while protecting their privacy and security is of paramount value to us,” stated Professor Sir Jonathan Montgomery, chair of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and teacher of healthcare law at University College London. “This amazing advancement provides a more practical choice for patients to access their health records. Patients retain control over their own health info at all times.”

“Women’s College Health center is happy to be among the very first in Canada to provide Health Records on iPhone,” said Heather McPherson, president, and CEO of Women’s College Hospital. “As we accelerate our virtual care method, we are committed to shaping a health system that individuals can navigate more successfully. Our company believes that digital tools like Health Records can contribute to more educated decision making and enhance the health care experience.”

The Health Records function in the Health app is offered to patients of the medical institutions listed below. In the coming months, more medical centers will link to Health Records and offer their patients access to this feature.
